In an interview to be aired on ABC's "The View", Obama says:

"Had the reverend not retired, and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country -- for all its flaws -- then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying there at the church."

This is the kind of disconnected thinking I just don't get. He is saying that his OWN moral convictions would not be enough to get his ass out of the pew and out the door. Someone else - Wright - would have to do something before Obama might act.

Weeks after the Reverend Wright scandal broke, only now, is he finally getting around to saying he "might" have left the church. Two weeks ago he was credited for giving the speech of a lifetime. Yet in it, while he defended Wright and sacrificed his white grandmother, there was no mention of any possibility that he might have left the church then. He was too busy blaming the America for the racial problems his church does nothing to heal.

Now he is offering this weak nonsense about how he "might" have left under a specific scenario.

Where is this man's backbone?

Did I miss something? Was Wright forced into retirement because of this scandal? Even if he was, what about Obama's own moral compass?

Obama blames everyone else for his choices. His minister spewed racist hate from the pulpit and it is the fault of white America. He can financially support the man through membership in the church but that's okay, because it's a) America's fault Wright lapses into hate speech, and B) he doesn't agree with him so that makes it okay.

If the media hadn't finally, reluctantly, had to cover this story, he'd still sit there and listen to Wright blame the government Obama wants to lead for spreading the AIDS virus in a plan to kill Blacks.

He might have left the church, if Wright hadn't retired... Wow... He is clueless and people are desperate to believe he really can't be as coldly ambitious as he is. They can't believe he really would say anything to save his butt, because he knows the media that loves him will put the best spin possible on it.

This is the man so many want as our president? I just don't get it.
