Maybe it was Edwards endorsing Obama the day after he got blown out in West Virginia that finally did it, but the spotlight is shining brightly and harshly on the old boys club within the Democratic Party.
And high time it is!
A group called "Clinton Supporters Count Too" promises to highlight what it says is unfavorable treatment of Clinton by the party. The group says it will campaign against Obama in the swing states of Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania if he wins over Clinton.
Marie Cocco wrote an excellent article (see yesterday's blog) and another story appeared in the Boston Globe on May 15, about the efforts of Massachusetts women to force the DNC to confront the rampant sexism with as much zeal as they are touting racism. The group met with Howard Dean, Chair of the DNC.
"There was an enormous acknowledgement on his part that misogyny and sexism reared its ugly head in this campaign and is an issue that needs to be addressed," said Deb Goldberg, a Clinton supporter and longtime Democratic activist. But, added Goldberg, "The proof is in the pudding. What does Howard Dean do . . . based on our conversation with him?"
