The short film, "How Obama Got Elected", went viral on the internet, and stirred up virulent hate in Obama supporters, who have gone after the film's creator with ugly emails and threats.
Don't kill the messenger people! It's not John Zieger's fault that the press did a better P.R. job for Obama than any paid company could EVER do.
The premise of the film was to show how uninformed voters were, but NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE STUPID, BUT BECAUSE THE MEDIA FAILED IN ITS DUTY TO INFORM.
The questions Ziegler asked of those interviewed for the film were also asked in a poll conducted by the respected polling firm, Zogby, with very similar results. 57.4% of those Zogby polled could not answer questions like "which party controls Congress" but 93% of them could tell you about Palin's pregnant daughter.
Why is that? Because the mainstream media buried negative stories about Obama and Biden, and reported negative stories - some of which were not checked for accuracy and were later exposed as lies - about McCain and Palin.
Even the most ardent Obama supporter would do well to consider what this means. If the media had been that deep in the tank for McCain, you'd all be screaming outrage, and rightly so.
The press has destroyed itself. Their credibility is shot. What used to be a respected and respectable profession has sunk uniformly to the level of gossip-mongering and cheer-leading. It isn't even the actions of a few, but of whole networks, controlled by corporations, who made clear which candidate was to be given good coverage and which was to be slammed.
This left Americans who have grown up, as many of us did, believing that news anchors were unbiased reporters, to be bamboozled by what we saw on tv or read in the papers. It had to be true, right, if the "New York Times" and CNN both said it. As a result, many busy, hard-working, good, trusting American voters, who don't have the luxury of time to cruise the internet and find out for themselves what was really going on, were left with false impressions and misinformation.
