Delegator-in-Chief is Killing Us

"Obama better step up his game, or it's going to be a short four years in office," concludes a commentary by Jack Cafferty, "Stimulus Bill a Story Spectacle".

With what may turn out to be the most important - and remembered - piece of legislation in Obama's presidency, he passed the buck and delegated crafting it to Nancy Pelosi. In-fighting between Pelosi and Reid delayed the bill, and both oversaw attaching so much pork we are facing a ham shortage in this country today! As Cafferty writes:

"It's really too bad President Obama couldn't figure out a way to jettison these two who are poster children for everything that is wrong in Washington."

But then, Obama is part of what's wrong with Washington - politics as usual. Promises, promises, lies, lies, then when you get in office, do what you want. So far, three weeks into his term, with the country in serious economic trouble, Obama has taken his family to Camp David for a weekend vacation, then off to Chicago for Valentine's Day.

And we thought Bush was out of touch!

People are losing their jobs. Choosing between heating their homes (it's February, people) or feeding their families. Individuals who invested their hard-earned money have seen it disappear into the vapor.

But Obama spends 2 out of 3 weeks away from the job, leaving Pelosi and Reid behind to craft an earmark filled mess that won't save the economy. This is what a Democratic majority in Congress produces in the face of a financial crisis that the Delegator-in-Chief said would destroy us. Cafferty says:

"What a joke. Your Congress has voted to spend almost $790 billion of your money on a stimulus package that not a single member of either chamber has read."

Cafferty goes on to say:

"Far from being only about jobs, infrastructure and tax cuts as promised, the stimulus bill stimulates a bunch of other stuff as well. Eight billion dollars for high-speed rail lines, including a proposed line between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. This little bit of second story work wasn't even in the House version of the bill.

It started in the Senate as a $2 billion project, and came out of the conference committee costing a whopping $8 billion. Gee, now who would that benefit? Oh yeah, the Senate majority leader is from Nevada."

We are in serious trouble as a nation. Yet Obama is acting like he's the king, not the president. He's got the heat jacked up in the Oval so high that, as David Axelrod put it, "you could grow orchids in there". He's serving up $100/lb Japanese beef at parties. Taking vacations on the taxpayer dime when he hasn't been on the job long enough to deserve one. In the real world, workers don't get a vacation until they have been on the job for a year.

It's like watching a train wreck. Slowly, slowly, the MSM is waking up to the reality that Obama isn't the savior. He doesn't know more than other mortals. He can't magically create bi-partisanship in Washington. Hell, he can't even put in 30 days of work without needing 2 vacations.

When Obama signs his so-called stimulus bill in Denver on Tuesday, he and the Democratic Party are putting each American family into debt to the tune of $30,000.

Now THAT is audacity.
